This is a blog about leading a balanced life by managing your career, relationships and money. This blog is for people who seeks a balance in their life. If you find yourself already achieving some success in certain aspects of your life, but still not finding true joy and fulfillment, then this blog is for you.

MY STORY

My father passed away when I was four years old. My mother only had three years of education. So you can imagine our income then wasn’t exactly enough to provide a very luxury living. We were merely getting by. Money was a tough issue back then.

After graduation, I entered the workforce with the desire to improve the standard of living for my family and myself. However, with the wrong mindset. From young, I was inculcated with the same industrial-age teachings: work hard, get a promotion and pay raise. Hopefully one day, I will earn enough to live the life that I want.

That was exactly what I did. I threw my entire heart and soul into my work. My time, energy, thoughts were all about doing a good job. Amazingly, this continued for a couple of years before I started to realize this strategy wasn’t taking me anyway nearer to where I wanted to go. The demand of the fast pace world today is just too high, and there never seems to be enough time to finish all the things that I needed to do. The more responsibilities I got, the lesser time I have for myself to do the things that I really want to do. It was all work and no life.

I needed to find the balance in my life and I turned to self improvement books. Over the years, after learning from many gurus and experts who had walked the path before me, I’d learned that I was working on a wrong mindset and mentality. My strategy to a meaningful and successful life was all wrong. I started to attend self development related seminars and learned even more. I looked back and saw my time and efforts wasted and wished that there had been somebody in my life to provide guidance, to advice and direct me. I wished there was someone to save me all those heartaches…

MY PRESENT

Well, those are things of the past. Now, my life has improved and I am glad to say that I have found balance in my life.

Relationships - I have being together with my wife for 10 years already and we are still going strong. I have supportive family and friends whom I am proud of and can depend on.

Career - I was an Army Officer for 7 years where I learned about leadership and managing people. I am also a certified PMP and currently does business development and project management for a global MNC. During my free time, I write on ‘A Long Long Road’, and is also a regular guest writer at LifeHack.org, one of the leading blogs about personal development.
I believe that having a great career does not necessarily mean sacrificing your family and relationships. A balance can be struck.

Money - We are financially stable; not rich, just stable. We live a simple life, without unnecessary materialistic pursues and are debt-free. Learning to manage money has given us a lot of freedom to do the things we want to do, and so should you.

If all these seems like a bed of roses, it’s not. Please realize that I am just a regular guy like many of you. I have my ups and downs as well; trying to strike a balance is something that requires constant work. I don’t consider myself a great success (at least not in the conventional sense of being at the pinnacle of my career or a millionaire), but I’m happy with the balanced life that I lead. It’s simple, satisfying, meaningful and fulfilling.

WHAT A BALANCED LIFE MEANS

You DON’T need to be very rich, have a high-flying career, fame or status to be happy. A quality life can be fulfilling in its simplicity and by having rich relationships with the people in your life. Sorry to sound morbid, but we don’t take those materialistic stuff with us to our grave. Many people strive for the balance and fulfillment in their life, but ended up chasing the wrong dreams.

It is with this purpose that I have started this blog: to share my own insights and experiences which can help anyone to enjoy a balanced life by learning to manage 3 important aspects of career, relationships and money (you may like to check out my idea of a balanced life here).

There was this guy see.
He wasn’t very bright and he reached his adult life without ever having learned “the facts”.
Somehow, it gets to be his wedding day.
While he is walking down the isle, his father tugs his sleeve and says,

“Son, when you get to the hotel room…Call me”

Hours later he gets to the hotel room with his beautiful blushing bride and he calls his father,

“Dad, we are the hotel, what do I do?”

“O.K. Son, listen up, take off your clothes and get in the bed, then she should take off her clothes and get in the bed, if not help her. Then either way, ah, call me”

A few moments later…

“Dad we took off our clothes and we are in the bed, what do I do?”

O.K. Son, listen up. Move real close to her and she should move real close to you, and then… Ah, call me.”

A few moments later…

“DAD! WE TOOK OFF OUR CLOTHES, GOT IN THE BED AND MOVED REAL CLOSE, WHAT DO I DO???”

“O.K. Son, Listen up, this is the most important part. Stick the long part of your body into the place where she goes to the bathroom.”

A few moments later…

“Dad, I’ve got my foot in the toilet, what do I do?”
